It is with great sadness that the executive announces the passing of long-time Hamilton Board referee and executive member Ron Belcher.

Ron (affectionately known to all as “R.B.”) began his officiating career with the Peel Board in 1974 and served as their Assignor and Interpreter during his time in Peel. He was inducted as a Lifetime member of the Peel board in 2002. R.B. served on our executive as the Education Officer during his time with the Hamilton Board and in 2006 was awarded the John A. (Wink) Willox Award by CABO (Canadian Association of Basketball Officials) in recognition of his significant length of service to the basketball community. Ron was also recognized for 30+ years of service with IAABO (International Association of Approved Basketball Officials).
Our sincere condolences to Ron’s friends and family – he will be missed.
