Kitch MacPherson Scholarship
- This Scholarship supports and rewards high school students who have distinguished themselves as minor officials (scorers or timers) and who are advancing their education. The Scholarship also supports officials of the Hamilton Board and children of officials of the Hamilton Board with their post-secondary education.
- Applicants must attend a secondary school that is part of the school boards served by Hamilton Board of Approved Basketball Officials.
- Students must be planning to attend a recognized post-secondary institution to continue their education.
- Each applicant will submit a written / typed letter of application to the President of the Hamilton Board of Approved Basketball Officials stating the individual’s academic achievements, their extra-curricular / volunteer activities, their interest in basketball and their goals in education (1-2 pages max).
- Support letters of reference are encouraged – particularly from a teacher / coach / administrator from the high school they are attending.
- The scholarship is available once and is intended for the first year of post-secondary education.
- The Hamilton Board of Approved Basketball Officials will present the scholarship to the selected recipient(s) at their AGM (held in May).
- Selection criteria includes: contributions to Basketball (could be as a player, coach, manager, administrator, score keeper, timer, official etc.), academics, extra curricular involvement.
- This award is funded by contributions from the membership of the Hamilton Board of Approved Basketball Officials.
Applications must be received by April 1st each year and should be submitted to the President of the Hamilton Board.
